This portrait drawing was completed in charcoal on Arches paper of a Crow Indian Warrior, Absaroka in their own language meaning "Bird People", in formal attire. Historically these tribes lived in the Great Plains of Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota. As they were bitter enemies of both the Sioux and Cheyenne nations, they fought alongside and scouted for the U.S. Calvary. Their attire consisted of breechcloths in the summer and wore many necklaces. The sun-bleached buffalo-robe clothing was the whitest and finest of all Native Indian Tribes. Some Differences in the Crow Indian fashion varied by tribe.
